How Did Jesus Feel?

        The last miracle,
            the last message,
                the last supper.
The only begotten Son came.
He left heaven. He came to earth.
Face to face with humanity:
        with brokenness
            with filth
                with darkness.
Jesus came face to face with humanity :
with the souls He helped His Father create :
with the souls He helped form in the womb.
        Created.
            Chosen.
                Destined.
He left heaven to hug them.
He left heaven to heal them.
Then He left earth to save them.
        Separation.
            Transition.
                Sacrifice.
He left. Left heaven, then left earth.
Separated. From heaven, then from earth.
It was a sacrifice to leave heaven -
a greater one to leave earth.
How did Jesus feel?
        Excited?
            Joyful?
                Triumphant?
He was leaving to prepare many mansions.
He was leaving to eternally reign with His Father.
He was leaving to forever defeat His enemy.
But how did Jesus feel?
        Sadness?
            Heartache?
                Separation?
He was leaving His only mother.
He was leaving His specially chosen disciples.
He was leaving close, intimate relationships -
        tangible
            face-to-face
                personal.
He knew it was but for a season.
He knew He would see them again-
perfected, whole, and radiant.
He knew. Yet He was God made flesh.
How did Jesus feel?

Half of these words were jotted down during a church service several weeks ago as a message was being shared on Jesus' last days/hours on earth. Sometimes I wonder what plethora of emotions He felt.

He was dying! He was leaving all the people He had spent the last 33 years of His life with. And He knew it.

Not once since the Fall had God come to earth and lived with the people that He created. Not once since the Fall had He been able to walk and talk with them; to relate to them face to face. Then Jesus came. For the first time, He lived in and among His precious people. He talked with them. He hugged them. He loved them. He shepherded them.

And then He left them.

He knew He would see them again in a redeemed, perfected way. He knew that His death on a cross would allow for this complete relationship. He knew this earthly world, in light of eternity, was as a vapor.

Yet, He was God in human flesh. Temptations were real. So were weaknesses. Reality did not and could not escape Him. As the last miracles were performed, the last sermons were delivered, and the last meals were eaten, I just wonder.
